Pro Migration & Account Recovery

Migrating from Old FreeDB Pro to the New FreeDB

If you had a Pro subscription on our previous portal, you do not need to pay twice or manually rewrite your SQL dumps. We’ve built automatic account linking, .sql.gz backup restoration, custom database naming, and 1-click snapshots directly into the new dashboard.

Option 1: 1-Click Legacy Pro Claim

Link Your Existing Legacy Pro Subscription & Databases

Our migration tool checks the legacy FreeDB Pro registry and your pro.freedb.tech database records. When matched:

  • ✓ Your account is immediately upgraded to Pro (Persistent) without paying again
  • ✓ Your legacy PayPal Subscription ID (I-...) is linked to your new account
  • ✓ Your existing pro.freedb.tech databases are imported into your new dashboard

Sign In or Register with Your Pro Email

Register or sign in using the same email address you used on the previous FreeDB Pro portal. Your dashboard will automatically detect your legacy Pro account and offer a 1-click restore button.

What Changed in the New FreeDB Pro (And What We Restored)

1. Custom Database & User Naming Restored

In the previous Pro portal, you could choose custom names for your databases and users. We have restored optional custom database and username inputs on the Pro and Dedicated plans while keeping 1-click random generation when left blank.

2. Direct .sql.gz & Legacy Dump Import

Old Pro backups were exported with mysqldump -B as .sql.gz archives containing CREATE DATABASE and USE old_db; statements. The dashboard SQL Import tool now accepts .sql.gz directly and automatically rewrites USE statements to match your target database.

3. On-Demand "Take Backup" + Daily Automated Backups

In addition to automated daily backups at 02:00 UTC (with 5-day retention), Pro users can once again click Take Backup Now in the dashboard at any time and delete old snapshots when needed.

4. 5 Databases & 1 GB Total Storage on pro.freedb.tech

Just like the previous Pro portal, Pro subscribers get up to 5 persistent databases on pro.freedb.tech with 1 GB of total storage and zero 30-day expiration timers.

Option 2: Restore from Backup File

How to Import an Old FreeDB .sql or .sql.gz Backup

Step 1

Create a Target Database

In your Dashboard, click Create database (Pro users can also specify a custom database name).

Step 2

Upload .sql or .sql.gz

Scroll to Import SQL / Backup File in your dashboard, choose your target database, and select your .sql or .sql.gz file (up to 50 MB).

Step 3

Test Connection & Update App

Click Test Connection on your database card to verify your tables, then copy your updated connection URI into your app’s .env.
